We strive to make every issue more beautiful, exciting, and informative and bring you the best in Caribbean news, and every issue it becomes more difficult for me to choose the pages I love most. This issue has been no different – I’m still stuck omitting articles I don’t want to omit but I just can’t bring it all to you – unless you subscribe of course.

I’d like to thank all our readers who take the time to contact SHE; don’t forget to include your contact details, an email will do – I’d like to say thanks. The winter issue features some of our readers’ letters.

As an extra, below you’ll find food news from Chef Orlando who is based in St Lucia but many of our UK readers will know  this fabulous chef too as he goes back and forth between the two countries frequently.

Don’t forget SHE’s on Facebook and twitter, so I hope to see your comments…

AND that a SHE subscription is a wonderful gift this Christmas, Valentine’s, birthday….

The Super Market

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

As a child, my favourite looking Caribbean island was Guadeloupe, and I’m sure you know why. It was the easiest island to recognise.

I christened the French Caribbean butterfly recently. Travelling to Guadeloupe with Air Cairibes and visiting the many villages rich of culture was an eye opener; it’s so French! But of course it would be – petite France surrounded by the Caribbean Sea.

Guadeloupe is a fusion of landscapes, breathtaking panoramas, vibrancy, exquisite cuisine and character.
Put it on your island-hop list.

I received a letter about this picture which is part of The Supermarket fashion spread in SHE’s summer issue. It made me smile as I appreciated how the writer felt.

I have never seen, and will never see a supermarket as fashionable as the Castries market in St Lucia. The orange patterned chiffon dress and jeans shorts by Biggy, the way the model fashionably sipped her coconut water, and the huge smile on the man’s face as he sat in his van, were pictorial works of art!
